BLACK FRIDAY through CYBER MONDAY!

So, I've been trying to come up with some creative ideas for this big shopping weekend and wanted to make sure to announce them here as well. I'm going to be offering free monograming (it can either be a traditional monogram or a full name-your choice!) on any full camera straps and free first class shipping on all orders through this weekend!!!
Also, just a pricing heads up for my followers. I am approaching 100 sales on Etsy which is AWESOME! I will be sending a small thank you gift to the person who makes my 100th purchase. Also, once I hit that number, I will be increasing my prices by $2 for my full straps. The increase is to reflect the time that the straps are taking to make. My available time will be drastically decreased by the middle of next month when baby #2 joins our house therefore any extra time to make straps will become more limited. I will NOT increase the price over this shopping weekend though so even if I hit 100 sales, it will stay the same until Tuesday morning.
Also, I'm adding some solid straps to the shop at a much lower price than my patchwork straps. I have had several requests for them over the last couple of months so I figured I would make some for the shop. Meet my best friend!

I've had this post in the works for about 2 weeks now but have been waiting for Jenn to release her new blog...now that its here I can FINALLY talk about it!!!
Jenn and I were in the same sorority in college. We were good friends but not best. We both had different groups that we hung out with that crossed over a lot. We bonded over our love for kitchen aid mixers, our dogs, being creative and photography. She and I were always the ones that were out with our giant cameras in tow....and always laughing the next day about the awesome pictures that we had taken! It wasn't until we both graduated and started our "adult" lives that our bond really solidified. I'm not sure what it was. The foundation was always there and then something sparked between us. Our friendship went from good friends to someone that I would trust with anything in my life-to include my kids.
Jenn called me a year and a half ago in tears. She has just been laid off from her job. Not because she wasn't doing an amazing job, but because the company was downsizing and she was unfortunately the person there who had been *only* been working there for three years-not 15 years like the other people. She was devastated. I was upset right along with her. The job market was not the most welcoming two years ago. She had always wanted to be a professional photographer but knew that may not be a "real" enough job to support her adult self. She started taking pictures as a side job, while still actively searching for something that was considered "real". One of her first shoots happened to be of my first born. I cried when I saw the pictures. They still hand all over my house-almost 2 years later. I told her from the beginning, this is the work she needs to be doing. She's taken her business from a side job to a full scale photography business.


Since then, I have been fortunate enough to have Jenn capture every milestone in Joe's life. Every time she takes pictures I say, THIS is my favorite image she's ever done. Then the next set of pictures comes out and I have to say, no wait, THIS is my favorite picture ever.



She's more than just a friend-she's part of our family. I'm so proud of her growing business. So proud that she found her passion in life. So proud that she's doing something that she loves, despite the struggles to get there. So proud that she gives other people feeling like I have when I get pictures of my family back. So proud to call her a friend.



I love that as my family grows, she's a part of it.


What's the best way to welcome a brand new website to your favorite photographer's life? Well, camera straps of course! Here's some that I just sent her way a couple of days ago. I hope that she knows how inspiring she is, not only to me, but to everyone who's lucky enough to meet her and be a part of her work. I'm so grateful that I have been able to watch her work change and grow over the last couple of years-I can't wait to see what she does next!!!!!!!!

Wrist straps-oh my!

I've been working on a bunch of wrist straps over the last couple of weeks. They are now in the shop and I have about 10 more in the works!! I'm trying to get ready for my maternity break which is coming up in December as we welcome our new baby boy. New Wrist Straps!

New Style

Little new take on the full camera straps that are already in the shop. I have several new straps that I will be posting over the next couple of days but wanted to draw special attention to the new "mini-full" strap! Its still the exact same size and length, but just smaller fabric segments which equals more fabrics overall! This orange and blue one is one of my favorite straps that I have. Guess that's just the Gator in me!!!!!


Also a couple more new wrist straps. I promise I am working on some for the shop but the full straps are taking up most of my time right now. All of these have been special orders but wanted you to see some other samples of the new style

Wrist Strap Re-do!

OK, So I must admit I haven't been totally pleased with the wrist strap design for some time now but am just now getting a chance to revamp it a bit. First, like my bigger straps, I've added padding to make them a little bit more cushy. Next, I decided to use a different connection than I had previously been using. I opted to go with something that is a bit more commercially made and work it into my strap rather than continue to totally make my own connection. I felt that this was an important choice because these cameras are expensive and valued by everyone! I figured that there was a much higher chance of something failing on a hand made loop connection rather than one that had been made for commercial use. The third change you will see is I am no longer using the black leather to finish the strap. It just wasn't working for me and I think that the alternative stitching still finishes it off nicely.


Here's two that I just completed in the new style for a very good friend of mine. She's already doing her Christmas shopping and got these for her mother and sister in laws! They will make perfect gifts. Even though I've redesigned the strap and added some extra touches, the price will remain the same for the time being. I am going to work on perfecting the strap and getting some up in the shop for a while before any price changes occur.

***On a holiday note, I just wanted to keep everyone up to date on what my schedule is looking like so you can make your shopping plans accordingly. I know its hard to even thing about the holiday season (especially since its still in the 90's here everyday!!) but its coming up-FAST! I am expecting #2 December 25th. Seriously:) We're having a scheduled c-section so he will be here about a week a head of time if he decided to cooperate and stay put. We all know how well plans, pregnancies and new born babies cooperate. Due to his arrival, I will be unavailable to take custom orders starting December 1st until at least mid January. I'll let you know if this time line changes at all but I don't want to accept an order and have him decide to come early! I'm making sure that I have plenty of straps in the shop over the next couple of months and will be able to ship everything that is listed in the shop during that time. The shipping times may be 2 business days but I will try to keep up as best as possible. I just wanted to let you all know that won't be available for custom orders during this time.***

Sorry I have been missing lately....things have been busy beyond belief but I am not exactly sure where the time goes! Welcome to my new followers by the way. I've added several NEW straps today to my shop which I am loving. Almost all of them are new fabrics that I have been collecting for a while now to include the Moda fabrics that I talked about a while back! Whats unique about this bunch of straps is they are the only ones being made this round. I only have one of each right now with no ideas of getting more of these Moda fabrics anytime soon. First round with new fabrics

Here's three new straps in Amy Butler's awesome fabric collection Daisy Chain. There are only 2 available in each color in the shop until I find someone else who sells the fabric!!! I LOVED it so much that I actually remade my strap and now have one of these:) Hopefully I will be able to get my hands on some more Daisy Chain soon-there are so many beautiful combinations with her lines!
